The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College family is mourning the loss of two faculty members that passed away recently, Jan and John Garrett. John Garrett passed away on January 24, 2014 and had recently retired from his position as a Professor teaching Computer Science. Jan Garrett passed away on January 28, 2014 and served the College as an English Professor. Jan and John proudly served Pennsylvania Highlands’ students for a combined 27 years. Both will be greatly missed.

he Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is proud to announce their Fall 2013 Induction Class. With this class, Beta Epsilon Omega inducted seventeen new members into the prestigious international honor society.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of the two-year college. The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Somerset Center invites community members, including high school students, adults, and their families to attend an open house at our facility at 315 Georgian Place. This exciting event will take place on Monday, January 27th, from 5pm to 7pm.
Attendees will learn more about the many opportunities available at the College’s Somerset Center, including our outstanding degree programs, transfer options, and opportunities for continuing education. Information on student life, including clubs and activities, will also be presented. Attendees will be able to speak with representatives regarding their future educational goals.
