Pennsylvania Highlands Community College’s Richland Campus invites community members, including high school students, adults, and their families to attend an open house at our facility at 101 Community College Way. This exciting event will take place on Thursday, July 19th, from 5pm to 7:00pm.

Attendees will learn more about the many opportunities available at Pennsylvania Highlands, including our outstanding degree programs, transfer options, and opportunities for continuing education. Information on student life, including athletics, clubs, and activities, will also be presented. Attendees will be able to speak with representatives regarding their future educational goals.

Orientation is the ideal time to meet your peers and future professors, find your way around campus, and so much more!  It is about meeting new people and being welcomed to Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.

You may be wondering about your family.  Are they invited?  We encourage you to bring one or two guests along as there will be programs and activities designed just for them.

All new students are invited to attend Orientation on August 22nd from 11am – 4:30pm.

  • Evening only and part-time students will have an option of attending an orientation session on Thursday, August 23rd from 5:30pm – 9pm.
  • Each Education Center will host an Orientation event of its own as well:
    • Somerset  – 9am – 12:30pm, August 23rd
    • Ebensburg12:30pm – 4:30pm, August 23rd
    • Huntingdon9am  – 12:30pm, August 24th

Orientation is required for all new students.  Evening, part-time, Somerset, Ebensburg, and Huntingdon students only need to attend one event but are encouraged to join us in Richland on August 22nd.

Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is reminding all unemployed veterans that training assistance is available through the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP).  The Department of Labor will offer employment assistance to every veteran who participates in and completes the program.

The VRAP offers training assistance to veterans who:

  • Are between 35 and 60 years old
  • Are unemployed on the date of application
  • Have an other than dishonorable discharge
  • Are not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program
  • Are not in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability
  • Are not enrolled in a federal or state job training program

This program is limited and filling up quickly.  Participants may receive up to 12 months of assistance equal to the monthly full-time payment rate under the Montgomery GI Bill–Active Duty program (currently $1,473 per month).  The Department of Labor will offer employment assistance to every veteran who participates upon completion of the program.
